We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Construction Technology to lead Blanchard Machinery’s construction technology strategy and accelerate profitable growth across South Carolina. This executive will integrate Caterpillar, SITECH/Trimble, connected equipment, machine control, automation, and digital productivity solutions across sales, rental, product support, and customer operations.
 
The successful candidate will combine strategic vision, commercial leadership, operational execution, and construction industry expertise to build a high performing technology organization, expand customer adoption, and position Blanchard Machinery as a trusted partner in helping customers improve safety, productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
 

The Vice President of Construction Technology will translate Blanchard Machinery’s construction technology strategy into measurable enterprise-wide business results by aligning leadership, talent, processes, partnerships, and investments. This executive will drive profitable growth, increase customer adoption, and build the organizational capabilities required to deliver industry-leading technology solutions.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive construction technology strategy aligned with the dealership's overall business objectives and Caterpillar's strategic direction.
  • Establish a clear business model that drives technology revenue, recurring revenue, profitability, customer retention, and competitive differentiation.
  • Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and market opportunities that create long-term value for the dealership and its customers.
  • Develop annual business plans, operating budgets, capital requirements, and measurable performance objectives.
  • Serve as the dealership's senior technology leader and primary strategic liaison with Caterpillar, SITECH/Trimble, and other key technology partners.

Commercial Growth and Market Development

  • Lead the growth of technology solutions across new equipment, aftermarket, rental, and customer-owned fleets.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for grade control, machine guidance, connected assets, fleet management, autonomy, and productivity solutions.
  • Partner with equipment sales, rental, and product support leadership to integrate technology into customer engagement, sales processes, and account development.
  • Establish customer segmentation strategies and targeted growth plans for key industries, applications, and accounts.
  • Expand recurring revenue through software subscriptions, technology services, support agreements, and customer lifecycle management.
  • Develop customer demonstrations, technology events, and value-based selling programs that accelerate adoption.

Organizational Development and Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing construction technology organization with clear accountability across sales, service, technical support, demonstrations, training, and field operations.
  • Assess organizational capabilities, identify talent gaps, and develop a scalable structure to support business growth.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain leaders and technical professionals with expertise in construction applications, equipment technology, and customer operations.
  • Establish training and certification programs to improve technology competency throughout the dealership.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and customer-focused execution.
  • Partner with functional leadership to establish clear roles, responsibilities, and operating processes across dealership departments.

Customer Adoption and Operational Value

  • Drive measurable customer adoption and utilization of Caterpillar and complementary technology solutions.
  • Position technology around tangible customer outcomes, including improved safety, increased production, reduced operating costs, and greater equipment utilization.
  • Develop structured customer onboarding, implementation, training, and ongoing support programs.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key customers to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for technology-enabled improvement.
  • Implement processes to measure technology utilization, customer engagement, satisfaction, and realized business value.
  • Translate customer feedback and market intelligence into improvements in the dealership's technology offerings and support capabilities.

Operational Excellence and Financial Performance

  • Own the financial performance of the construction technology business, including revenue growth, gross profit, operating expenses, and return on investment.
  • Establish scalable processes for technology sales, installation, commissioning, service, support, and subscription management.
  • Improve coordination among equipment sales, rental, service, parts, and technology operations to deliver consistent customer experience.
  • Develop inventory, staffing, and resource plans aligned with market demand and growth objectives.
  • Establish management reporting and performance metrics to evaluate financial results, operational efficiency, and customer adoption.
  • Ensure technology investments generate sustainable financial returns and support the dealership's long-term strategic objectives.

OEM and Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop strong executive-level relationships with Caterpillar and other key technology providers.
  • Align dealership technology initiatives with Caterpillar's product roadmap, digital ecosystem, and customer value objectives.
  • Represent the dealership in strategic technology discussions, industry forums, and OEM initiatives.
  • Evaluate potential partnerships and emerging solutions based on customer value, commercial opportunity, and strategic fit.
  • Advocate for dealer and customer requirements in product development, support, and technology integration discussions.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction equipment, construction technology, heavy equipment distribution, or related industries required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business growth, organizational development, and cross-functional initiatives required.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, profitability, and business performance required.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders, build teams, and execute organizational change required.
  • Strong executive communication, strategic planning, and relationship management skills required.
  • Ability to translate complex technology solutions into clear customer and business value propositions required.
  • Senior leadership experience within a Caterpillar dealership, SITECH operation, construction technology provider, or major construction equipment OEM preferred.
  • Understanding of construction equipment applications, customer operations, and technology-enabled productivity improvements preferred.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar technology solutions, including VisionLink, Cat Grade, Cat Command, and connected equipment platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Trimble machine control, positioning systems, surveying, and jobsite technology preferred.
  • Experience developing recurring revenue, technology service, or subscription-based business models preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction workflows, earthmoving applications, fleet management, and jobsite productivity preferred.
