Overview

The Standard Jobs Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the dealership’s standard job program. This role ensures that repair labor standards, notes, and parts lists are accurate, up to date, and easily accessible. The Standard Jobs Specialist collaborates with service, parts, and sales teams to build and maintain standard jobs that improve quoting accuracy, service consistency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Develop, update, and maintain standard job templates within Caterpillar and dealer business systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and document data to support labor hour standards, notes, and required parts lists.
  • Format and publish technical notes for inclusion in standard jobs, ensuring clarity and compliance with established guidelines.
  • Support quoting processes by providing accurate labor and parts information for preventive maintenance (PM) and other repair jobs.
  • Monitor and track performance and utilization of standard jobs, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure standard job parts pricing remains aligned with Caterpillar pricing.
  • Provide support and training to dealership staff on proper use of standard jobs and tools.
  • Partner with service advisors, parts personnel, and sales teams to improve communication and execution of standard jobs.
  • Maintain records, documentation, and revision history of standard jobs to ensure accuracy and audit compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or opportunities to streamline standard jobs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in business, technical or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in product support, service operations, or related technical field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and dealership operations (service and parts).
  • Familiarity with dealer business systems (DBS, SIS) and Caterpillar software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside throughout the day; however, this position may also require working in non-climate-controlled environments as well as outdoors.
  • Position may require employees to be physically present at designated worksite locations.
  • Requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
