Overview

The Energy Rental Manager is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Power Systems Rental Fleet profitability while maintaining good rapport with sales force, internal departments and other Caterpillar dealers while developing and growth opportunities of Power System Used Equipment. This position is also responsible for Energy Used Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Manages profitability for prime product energy rental and used equipment and prepares the annual operating budget for both rental and used energy equipment.
  • Review financial statements for deviations and research and report immediately.
  • Establish measurements and provide consistent feedback to Sales Manager and direct reports on results versus established measurements.
  • Attend training, conferences, and executive coaching classes.
  • Build strong relationship with customers and other Dealers with clear communication, consistent customer and other Dealers site visits to maintain a direct feel for our marketplace.
  • Collaborate with other Dealers to maximize repeated rent opportunities.
  • Participate in customer events and represent Blanchard Machinery within the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Support finance/credit department with collection efforts when payment problems arise.
  • Reviews overall sales performance based on rental, Used sales, new accounts and other sales guidelines.
  • Ensure sales coverage throughout the state is sufficient and adjust sales coverage as needed.
  • Conduct monthly Rental meetings, managing CRM reporting, inventory levels, and direct expenses for the department.
  • Establish sales plans and sales goals for used equipment.
  • Establish proper mix of used equipment from both rental fleet and outside acquisition.
  • Manage the hiring, development, and deployment of all members of the Power Systems Rental Team ensuring wage and commission schedules are in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Review, approve, and submit commissions monthly, departmental expense reports and make compensation recommendations.
  • Ensure all employees conform to company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in direct communication with each employee on a regular basis, committing to maintain confidentiality in those instances involving personal issues and bring any employee concerns or complaints to the attention of the Power Systems Sales Manager and/or Employee Relations Manager within 24 hours.
  • Ensure personnel development plan is in place and ensure performance reviews for all rental team members will be conducted in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare performance and wage/commission reviews prior to the annual review.
  • Ensure Sales incentives, employee recognition and compensation in the development of each Rental employee performance plan.
  • Manage assets to achieve desired utilization through rates, fleet size and location.
  • Meet overall utilization goal of total equipment in division to maintain profitability.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Four-year Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Rental.
  • Must have previous experience in Fleet Management, size and mix.
  • Strong sales and/or sales management history preferred.
  • Prior assets and fleet management experience preferred.
  • Customer service oriented with the desire to effectively communicate with other Cat dealers and serve internal and external customers while growing and developing the Power System Rental Department.
  • Basic accounting and finance understanding includes life cycle costing, depreciation methods, budget forecasting, and the ability to use and interpret financial statements.
  • Substantial career experience and past job performance may be considered in lieu of all previously listed requirements.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license with less than three moving violations in the past three years.

Working Conditions:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
