Overview

 The Payroll Specialist, working under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager, will provide support with payroll operations to process and review bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll and related payroll tax filing as well as payroll general ledger interface.
  • Administer all company benefits plans and employee programs to comply with all federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains and review employee information in ADP and DBS systems.
  • Review ADP and DBS input and payroll reports bi-weekly to ascertain correct posting of hours worked and adjust payroll, as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide data for various reporting.
  • Balances all payroll and benefits accounts at month end.
  • Reconciles the payroll clearing general ledger account monthly.
  • Transmits bi-weekly payroll data to ADP Service Center and reviews resulting documentation such as the payroll register, the GL interface and payroll tax reporting.
  • Verification of Employment requests
  • Enter Tax levy notices (state and federal)
  • Assist with Status Change Form data entry.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Certificate with 5+ years required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel.
  • Working knowledge of ADP or other comparable systems
  • Analytical with a strong attention to details
  • Understanding of SC State Payroll laws
  • Self-driven to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • MUST maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge/experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good collaboration & communication skills

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside (non-climate controlled) throughout the day.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Must be able to lift varied weights.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
